Byron Shire Australia Day Awards  – January 25th 2020

Byron Shire Council will be celebrating the contribution and achievements of local residents at its Australia Day Awards presentation.

There are eight categories in the 2020 Australia Day Awards, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Creative Artist of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Sports commentator and passionate advocate for heart health, Mr Andy Paschalidis, is the Byron Shire’s 2020 Australia Day Ambassador.

Mr Paschalidis will join Mayor Simon Richardson and invited guests on 25 January for the announcement of the Byron Shire 2020 Australia Day Award winners and then attend a number of community events on 26 January.

Council, through its Australia Day Community Small Grants program, is supporting a number of activities on 26 January including:

Brunswick Heads Breakfast in the Park – 32nd year

Where: Housie Tent, Banner Park, Brunswick Heads.
When: 26th January – 7-10 am

Survival Day

Where: Apex Park, Byron Bay
When: 26th January 11am-2:30pm

Byron Bay Breakfast in the Park

Where: Near Surf Club, Byron Bay
When: 26th January 7:30-11am

Ocean Shores Aussie BBQ and Games

Where: Ocean Shores Public School
When: 26th January 3-6pm
